Program: Qedit (version 0.55) Short: ka9q outgoing queue editing program Files: qedit055.spk Spark'd archive of the program qedit055.txt A copy of this message Demon: Please could you put these in /pub/acorn/utils to replace the existing files "qedit054.spk" and "qedit054.txt". Thanks. Hensa: This is an update to package d031. Thanks. Description ----------- !Qedit is a program for editing your ka9q outgoing mail and news queues. It is based around a window which shows a list of all items in the queues, giving their To, From and Subject lines. You can delete messages, put them "on hold" to stop them being sent immediately, or edit them before they are sent. Requirements ------------ * RISC OS 3.10 or greater * !TCPIP (ka9q) * Newsbase The latest public versions of !TCPIP and Newsbase can be found in: ftp://ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/acorn/developers/ Features -------- * Easy editing of posted messages. * Holding messages to stop them being sent immediately. * Deletion of messages in the queues. * Multi-tasking desktop program. * Automatic update when messages are sent. * Transparent integration into Newsbase and !TCPIP. Changes from 0.54 (last public release) to 0.55 ----------------------------------------------- Features added: * Transport name can be changed from the default of "ka9q", so long as the new transport supports the structure. * MailList messages are shown in blue to distinguish them from normal messages. Features improved: * Memory requirement reduced to 32k. * Filing system operations no longer screw up with the Bits module. * OLE handling improved. Bugs fixed: * No longer asks pointless "Are you sure?" messages when editing messages. * Now gives more informative messages when a Newsbase command fails. * Checks for bad work files rather than give EOF errors Future improvements ------------------- This will be the last ka9q-only version of Qedit. The next version will be recoded from scratch (probably in ARM assembler), will no longer require Newsbase, and will be multi-transport. This means it will cope with more than one communications system. I am hoping to implement: * ka9q * Newsbase internal queues * Offlite (Termite Internet) * RUCP If there are any other transports you'd like to see, please let me know. Installation ------------ To install, simply drag the supplied !TCPIPUser on top of your existing !TCPIPUser. This will install it in !TCPIPUser.AutoBoot, meaning that programs like Newsbase and !TCPIP will be able to find it, but it will not clutter up your main Internet directory. I have reduced the WimpSlot to 32k (which will cope with up to ~30 messages), but if you get a "No room" error then load the file !Qedit.!Run into an editor and change the WimpSlot to 64k. |> /+\ \| | |> -- David Croft. david@runge1.demon.co.uk Reigate, Surrey.
