Tiffin 1.21 Short: Reads TIFFs and turns them into Sprites. Size: 434117 bytes (includes example TIFF) Tiffin 1.21. This utility reads TIFF files and turns them into 32-bit sprites. That's it, really, except to say that this will read many more TIFFs than most other graphics converters, including ChangeFSI, as it uses SGI's LIBTIFF, which for TIFF support is about as definitive as it gets. In particular, other people may have noticed that TIFFs exported by Adobe PhotoShop 3.0 and many other newer Macintosh/PowerMacintosh software cannot be understood by ChangeFSI or in fact any other Acorn application I know of, including Impression (via TransTIFF) and PhotoDesk. This is most often to do with the extra channels which later formats of TIFF can encompass. Tiffin will read these without any problems. Included in the Archive is a TIFF exported from PhotoShop, (having been generated in KPT Bryce, a landscape generator), which ChangeFSI won't read, but Tiffin will. Finally, to my knowledge, this is the first Freeware application to be made available which uses the Toolbox. Aside from that, it does *NOT* use Acorn's C libraries, but another one, on top of OSLib 5.00. Risc PC only. (Requires 32-bit sprites and dynamic areas.) Suggest it goes into /pub/archimedes/graphics -- Peter Greenham
